Dave is a Director for GFI software based in Malta (www.gfi.com) as well as President of his own firm, Service Support International (SSI) which is a professional technology and community consulting firm. Dave is known for building a world-wide community support organization (Culminis - now named GITCA) and after building it, turning it over to Microsoft to become an all volunteer organization working with IT Leaders from around the world. Dave also founded and served as President for 10 years the largest IT Pro user group in the U.S., the Carolina IT Pro Group (www.carolinait.org).
Dave volunteers as a tutor for an inner city at-risk kids program and has served on the Board of the Men's Homeless Shelter in Charlotte, NC. He led the effort to set up and man several computer labs for inner city kid’s programs and homeless shelters and schools.
Dave is a regular speaker at local schools and colleges teaching and encouraging students to look at technology as a career and has worked with faculty and staff at local colleges to enhance their technology programs. He was featured in Redmond magazine for his work in IT communities and honored by his alma mater (the University of Virginia) in 2008 for his contributions to the IT community and the university. He also gives IT related presentations internationally and has done so in Italy, Germany, France, UK, Russia, China, Japan. Australia, Peru, Columbia, Brazil and Mexico.
He participates on several non-profit service related boards in his community doing community service with organizations for children and the homeless. In 2008, he was awarded a global award by Microsoft for his contribution to the global IT Community. He is pictured below with Mr. Bill Gates at the award ceremony.
Dave has been recognized a number of times for his contributions ot the community including 5 North Carolina Blue Diamond awards, national awards from both Microsoft and Windows IT Pro magazine, numerous regional and local awards from colleges, universities and local entities such as the 2008 Hometown Hero award from Charlotte, NC USA here he resides.
He has served as a Deacon at Forest Hill church (www.foresthill.org) near his home in Charlotte, for five years.
Dave is a seven time Microsoft MVP awardee and is also a Microsoft Solutions Advocate. Additionally, he serves on the Microsoft IT advisory Board and Microsoft's International Customer Advisory Board.
